Jed-Forest vs Aberdeen Grammar

Jed-Forest RFC 20 Aberdeen Grammar 18
Aberdeen Grammar put aside the misery of last week’s cup exit to earn the praise of head coach Alex Duncan, but the losing streak continues after they were condemned to defeat by relegation-threatened JedForest in Premier 2.
Duncan, though, was determined to find the positives after his side rallied from a 15-point deficit at JedForest.
The 20-18 result was hard to take for Duncan who said: “I am so disappointed for the players whose attitude and commitment was first class.”
He added: “We didn’t spark in the opening stages, conceding two soft tries, but we finished in the ascendancy and probably deserved to win.”
Grammar rallied after their slack opening to score a try when winger Calum Scott chased and touched down his own chip.
Scrum half Rob Lawson failed with conversion, but made amends with a penalty to give the visitors a fighting chance at 15-8 at half-time.
The revival continued after the break when Peter Wilson raced in to score. Lawson’s kick made it 15-15, before the visitors were badly hampered by injuries to Scotland under-21 full back Steve Aitken and centre Mark Oatey.
Despite losing both players the visitors kept up the pressure, but lost a third try and were unable to finish off Jed who were out on their feet when the final whistle went.
Grammar have a break this weekend before they take the road to the Borders again with trips to face Kelso and Gala.
