Aberdeen Grammar vs Biggar
11 February 2008
Aberdeen Grammar 20 Biggar 40
Aberdeen Grammar's miserable run against Borders sides continued on Saturday when visitors Biggar consigned the home side to a sixth consecutive defeat at the hands of teams from the cradle of Scottish rugby.
It could have been so different had Grammar maintained the first half momentum which took them into a 15-11 lead against one of the three promotion contenders in Premiership 2. They didn't and as a result ran out 40-20 losers.
Tries from winger Ali Robertson and hooker Niall Shannon were scant reward for their efforts.
Biggar asserted themselves early in the second period, running in four tries to confirm their promotion credentials, although sloppy home defending made it easy for the visitors.
Grammar had the final say when Shannon added his second try of the day right on the final whistle of a game which was watched by a handful of spectators.
Grammar now look to a trip to Edinburgh on Saturday with hopes of an extended run in the Scottish Cup.
